Signing On Query

I haven't signed on since November due to the break in December due to Christmas, I think I'm due to sign this week.

When I checked my post office receipt though it says my next signing date isn't until November 26th 2013.

Can this be correct? I've tried ringing but can't get through to anyone. I usually sign on monthly.

Dont know about dates but when phoning , try ringing the number for 'grassing' people . They always answer that pretty quickly. Then ask to be put through to your local office.

Signing is usually monthly, that could be a system or manual error caused when skipping the December signing. You should be due to sign on 8 weeks from your last signing date.

What happens if you miss a sign on date?

    Your payment is stopped.
@ OP. What format did that notice to sign come in ? Was it 26/11/2013, when it should be 26/01/2013.

I too havent signed on since November. Was told they are rechanging the sign in dates and times and just to wait till I get a letter.

2 weeks later still havent recieved a letter. I'm worried I am going to be hit with a big ol' "well, you failed to sign in!"

I thought it was a mix up with the month originally but 26th of this month was a Saturday where the 26th of November is a Tuesday (my sign on day).

That's what I'm worried about myself. I was told to ignore the post office slip and they'll text me. They've only text me once in the last 4 months so have to go by the post office slip.

The last time I went down I was told in future to wait for a text. Even after explaining I don't get them consistently.

I'll try ring them again today.

I tried ringing my local social office today. Phones are off the hook constantly  (heard about Social Offices not anwering their phones. its a joke)
I would go down to them personally. But I don't want to que up for 30 minutes to only be fobbed off. All I want to know is have letters been sent out yet or not... pssh.

May as well go down. Usually takes me a few minutes at reception. Most would be about 20 minutes if there's a queue
OP they probably have your number down wrong or something. Make sure they have the right one

    Heya,

I signed on today and was told that the system is changed so I only sign on once a year. So my next sign in date would be 29th Jan 2014.

My understanding is that it will be FAS who will be "checking" up on you to make sure you are looking for work. When I signed on at the start, I had to go to FAS to get a "career progression plan" and that this is replacing signing on.

Bit stupid if they haven't sent a letter to you anyway!

    Hope that helps!

Well my friend was down there today (apparently it was mental as the office was closed without notice yesterday so glad I didn't go down myself).

I got them to ask for me and apparently there is a new random signing on process started.

She was told to tell me not to worry and if I haven't received a text and letter I don't need to sign on.

Was told it will be totally random from now. Could be 4 weeks, could be 8, could be 10 or could be 6 months.

Depends on the office. Some might have been closed and some might not have.

Anyway lads, it might have something to do with your ages. I was told since I was under 25 that my signing on date was being changed to three weeks from last Wednesday. But supposedly for 25 or over it's still the standard 4 weeks.

    Personally BD,
I am sensing some major reforms in the social welfare.

Only my opinion, but I think they want people off the dole. It doesn't matter if you can't find a job. They will use any excuse to stop payment.
