Travellers Cheques

Hey all,

Just wondering if any one know if you can still get travellers Cheques in Ireland, AIB apparently don't issue them any more. I know they are very dated but they would be very handy for me as I am going travelling for two months alone. While I'll have a credit card and an ATM card I would very much like the security of some travelers Cheques in case both get stolen. I'll try to keep both in separate places, and I have a money belt, but as there is only me I am afraid they both could get pinched leaving me more than a bit short. Does any one know if you can still get them or maybe have other suggestions on bringing money.

The modern equivalent of the travellers cheque is the prepaid credit card, get one or more these and put €200 on them for emergencies and keep a couple of €50 notes in the money belt or out of sight also.

You could also leave some cash at home with someone you trust to send on via Western Union if you come up stuck.
