Wandering around boards I came across a daily achievement thread which gave me the idea for this thread. (Apologies for my use of language I couldnt think of a better word than envy)

Basically I want people throwing up there little personal victories. The aim is to help motivate people in the best way possible;envy

So throw up whether you clocked a ridic split in a session, ran a PB, set a PB with the weights, Went junk free for a day/ week, Big mileage day/Week, braved the elements on a particularly hot/cold day

Basically anything that will make people up there own game (especially if its with a boards nemesis:D)

The only rule is no walter mitty posts! you will recieve infractions you have been warned
    :D

Does rivalry amongst childhood friends count? The type of rivalry that makes you feel like your back in the schoolyard even at 35 years of age :o

Its been renamed as your right it not something to be envious of :D

Finally came to me this is about peer pressuring people into good habits for fear of someone putting in extra work that will reap the rewards come race day

Some people are intrinsically motivated, some people extrinisically - most people a mixture of both but leaning more in one direction. I think that it's helpful to know which direction you lean in.

For me it's extrinsic. I like and admire those who want to 'be the best that they can be' but my motivation comes from beating people and to a certain extent times. I'm fortunate in that my club has quite a wide variety of abilities and as I've caught up with and passed people previously I've always had someone new to look towards.

I went out for a run last night and though it was wild and windy, there were lots of runners out. After about a mile I didn't feel like running anymore so I turned around and went home. No peer pressure for me :D

In the middle of a boozy weekend in Essex after only 6 hours in bed, I ran 9 miles in what could only be described as a monsoon. Pace was decent. Followed up the next day by a 5.5 miler point-point run straight into a gale force headwind, and at close to HM pace.

While we're on the subject of self-congratulating - I cooked the most amazing Thai Green Curry at the weekend, complete with coconut rice and coriander naan. It was absolutely superb. Bring on the warnings. :D

Have had a crap few days running since I had to bail on a run on Friday after a few miles, a horrible run on Sunday and Monday. Was happy to get 5 miles non stop done today.

Did you chop the ingredients up coarsely or finely?

Did the 1500m in Tullamore. Got blown out of it. Tony Kelleher won the 800m.

The National Indoors are on in Athlone Saturday week.

    Are you competing in it?

Well to be honest, it was more of a 'naan-like' production. I took some shop-bought flat-breads, grilled em to crispy, topped with chopped coriander, garlic olive oil and salt, and flashed 'em under the grill until brown and bubbling. A really delicious naan/poppadom type compromise. Perhaps worth half a point?

Before ecoli bans me for being snarky:
I took two weeks off so far this year due to illness, and I'm already ahead of 96% of the runners in the 1,000 mile thread (including ecoli ;)). Take that b1atches.

Are you using the latest version of garmin firmware though? Wouldn't be surprised if your current version was measuring 30% too long

Ecoli just ran a completely ridiculous session of 20 x400m @ 78-80 off 45 sec rest. I folded like a little girl after 14. I was pretty f'ing impressed when he banged out the last 6 while cause that was some session....btw i reckon the wind was adding a second or two on to each rep

Two thats right TWO team munster XC gold medals.

2nd year a year a parent pulled a Neil Horan on me and let their runner pass me. Their sons team came first but was DQ'd later for it. Madness.
Was 12/13 at the time :)
