VIP Ireland? Have training, don't know anything about them!

Hiya, hope you guys can help me!

I applied for a few jobs over the weekend, and received a text today from a guy saying he received my CV and wants to meet me for a training day in town on Thursday for a job with VIP Ireland. They are apparently a company that sell electronic smokes.

I googled them and can't find much about them. Does anyone know if they're commission-only, or waged?

Seems too good to be true to just get a text to go for training! I didn't apply to them, but I have given my CV to a few family friends who mentioned knowing people in retail who could help me out, so it could have been one of them. :pac:

I get door to door sales vibes (there's a big thread about such companies and practices here) honestly. Read up on the thread and what usually happends and see how tomorrow goes...

Yeah, I got the 'door to door' vibe from it, too, but he told me it's actually training for a new shop they bought in a local shopping centre, and I know they have a 'stand' in the Jervis Center. I checked online and it turns out there were newspaper advertisements about them creating 40 jobs in Ireland this year, with new stores. No mention of it being waged or commission-based, unfortunately.

It's not that I'd turn my nose up at commission-based work, but I tried it before and it's soul-destroying. :pac:

It sounds like it could be very heavily commission based alright. You should be able to tell from the vibes in the interview.

    Thought that.

Anyway, I decided to just ask my dad about it (turns out it's his friend who got the trial/training for me).

    It's waged. :D

So I guess this can be closed.

    Thanks guys. :)
