Advice about retrofitting fog lights and new wheels please

    Hi,

I recently bought a used '09 Daihatsu Sirion AUTOMATIC 1.3 GX A/T 1.3L. Just realised a couple of nights ago during the fog that it doesn't have fog lights. I'm not someone who goes round with them on all the time, just when there's fog and on the road home on particularly dark or wet nights - need fog lights on our little 'road' (aka boreen) to avoid all sorts of road kill.

So, thought I could just order a pair online for about €25 and ask our very good local mechanic to put them in. However, I have discovered this morning that the best price I can get them for is £142.42* plus postage

What I'm wondering is, do they have to be Daihatsu ones or is there a cheaper, universal alternative? Also, is it a big job on this particular car to fit them or would it be wired up already? There are kindof 'sockets' there if that makes sense / holes with covers where the lights should be. However, I contacted the guy I bought the car from who said there were never any on it and he bought it new.

Am also wondering if anyone knows about alloys for this model of car, and how much they cost and what I'd be asking for size wise? I've never bought alloys before, they were on my last couple of cars though and prefer the look of them. Was thinking of finding some on adverts.ie if i knew what to look for.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Am going to try and paste a photo here of the front of a similar car, this isn't my one though it's the same...

Adjusting the headlight beam downwards using the switch on the dash is handy during fog.

Where can you get these switches?

Hi, thanks for that but it's not enough for what I need. If anyone else has any info about this I would greatly appreciate your input, thanks :)

Just buy universal round ones for around €40 in halfords and buy a universal relay kit for around €20, and a holesaw the same size as the fogs.

Great, thanks very much for that. Do you know would they work off the same switch for the back fog light (so I'd know by looking at the dash that they're on) or would a switch need to be put into one of the blank spaces?

As for the alloys, I'd stick with the 14 inch size the same as what you have.

The sirion is based on the toyota yaris so they're the same fitment. If you're looking at second hand ones I'd get a set from a pre 2006 yaris strata or sol.

If you want daihatsu wheels, ones of the previous sirion will fit too .
