Hi! My sister's children are afraid of their father. My niece is so afraid that she has started asking if some of the young people who committed suicide recently, did so because they had a problem, i.e. they were affraid of a parent, and thought there was no way of resolving it.

Social workers have been involved before, and GP is trying to get them involved again. However, GP feels both chidlren need counselling. He has referred them to a psychologist because he is so concerned about their mental health because of all the pressure. However, pscyhologist said she can't see them without the consent of the father, he won't give his consent because he does not want it to come out exactly how he is treating them - he has intimidated them already not to speak up. The psychologist said she needs a Court Order to see them, even if there is a risk of suicide.

Is this correct? Can a psychologist not see them even if the GP refers them and has serious concerns about what is going on. It will take a while - as the dad will drag it out - and a lot of moeny to get a Court Order. This seems crazy. Would welcome any advice/comment.

What' do you mean by treating them?

Is it something the police should hear about?
