    Hi,

I am looking for some help to purchase some new tyres. I have a small commute of 12k two ways each day. I had a raleigh hybrid for a few years and used it to commute to work. Just hop on and cycle

I since bought a Giant Defy and its great but I have a pain in my xxx pumping up the tyres. they always seem to loose pressure over a few days, is this normal??Can someone please recommend a good tyre for commuting and where to buy it and most importantly roughly how much I should pay.

    Thanks alot

Continental gatorskin hardshells. I had four punctures in the first month with a new bike. Since I replaced the original tyres with the gatorskins: lots of glass to regularly remove but no punctures since.

Pressure loss is normal but every few days is strange.

Are you using a track pump or normal hand pump?

If you don't have a track pump, get one. Before you go out pump the tube up to whatever pressure is indicated on your tyre. Anything under 110psi on a road bike is asking for punctures.

That should do the job. It's fairly normal to have to regularly inflate tubes. I do it every day I go to use the bike tbh.
Anyway, it's tubes that lose pressure, not tyres. But if you're looking for good tyres at a reasonable price which are puncture-resistant, then I would recommend Vittoria Rubino Pro.
I bought my latest pair from Chain Reaction this morning for €50 and I expect they'll last around 5-6,000km if the last set is anything to go by.

As said before - the tubes lose the pressure, not the tyres. Check your tires, the little wear indicators on the sides should still be intact, and there should be some thread left, but otherwise, just replace the inner tubes.
