Buying a 08 focus style

I am thinking of buying a 1.6 Focus Style.

An 08 with less than 80,000 miles seems to cost around €10,000.

I drive around 10,000 miles per year. Mainly motorway driving.

I suppose a golf is the more expensive alternative option?

10k for a 08 Focus style diesel with 80k sounds a lot, should get a 09 at least for that money.

We were selling 08's last year for 9-9.5k.

Style is a fairly low spec, and one of those 1.6 diesels with 80k miles wouldn't be the most reliable unless it has been very well serviced over it's life (eg oil changes every 10k with the proper oil).

I picked up a new 115bhp 1.6TDCI Focus during the week. The difference between it in terms of pick up and acceleration for overtaking and throttle response, compared to the 95bhp version is quite significant.

A Style model is a low spec Focus model. I wouldn't pay 10k for an 08 unless it had a full service history, extremely low mileage, and a diamond ring included.
I say this as I bought a 10 reg Style 1.6l diesel 115 bhp model a couple of weeks ago for 10900 with 40k on the clock. It's a basic model (no foglights, no reversing sensors, no automatic windscreen heater) but costs 65Eur to fill the tank and I am getting 500+ miles to the tank so can't complain..

A family member bought a 10 reg Zetec model 6 months prior to when I bought my car for 16k. 5k for foglights, windscreen automated heater & reversing sensors.... not a good deal. Shop around, you will get a deal.

The style model got upgraded in late 08, so it was as well specced as the zetec (better specced maybe)
