Ferry To France For Wine

Just wondering if many people are still taking short breaks to France on the ferry to stock up on wine?

I'm just back from Tesco and was pretty shocked at some of the price increases. Most of the wines we would have regularly purchased are no longer on special offer and also have the €1 increase from the budget applied. In some instances wines have gone from €7 to €12. Even with the current 25% off offer it's still a huge price increase on last year.

Haven't heard of anyone do this in a long time. On a €10 bottle of wine, I'll guesstimate this is about €5 in France. You could probably get 200 bottles in a car.

So you might save a grand before cost of ferry, fuel and taking two days to travel there and back...a very long two days if seas rough. Just not worth the bother IMO.

Maybe there are larger savings on more expensive wine and champagne.

Have you checked the price of your favourite Tesoc wines on the UK website and you could buy in the north if a lot chaeaper?
