Immersion timer broken

    Hi,

My immersion timer is broken as per the title. Only noticed it this morning.

The water isn't getting heated. I'm presuming it is the timer and not the actual immersion as the timer light is not lighting up when it should.

The light flicks on very briefly when I turn on the timer. I'm guessing at this stage that I will have to get in a professional to have a look at it, but I'm wondering if the fact that the light flicks on briefly is a sign of anything?

I've had a look at the fuse box and none of the fuses are tripped.

It is a Grasslin QE7+ model timer.

It is keeping time accurately from what I can make out.

As I said, I'm more than likely going to ring an electrician on Monday, but just wondering if anyone has any insight in the meantime.

    Thanks in advance.

Urgent safety warning on Grasslin QE7 water-heating timer

There was a problem with these in Ireland that they could catch fire, and a recall was issued. dated 13/1/2012 If yours was not replaced I'd strongly advise you switch off the power to it if you can, but certainly don't try to use it. Get a sparks out on Monday.

That warning dates from 2005. I remember getting leaflets through the door at the time. I'm pretty sure mine didn't have to be replaced. It's a QE7+ (note the plus symbol) if that makes enough difference.

It's slightly different than the one pictured in that link.

If it means I can get the thing fixed for free I'd be delighted though.

    Thanks for the reply.
