Anybody have a ballpark figure to replace the throttle body of a 00 Avensis i.e. parts (2nd hand even) + labour?

Car drives fine for the most part but the odd time it gets very jerky especially in low gears. May not be worth replacing for car that's worth less than a grand probably.

    This maybe:

Definately worth replacing as that model is very reliable

How do you know it's the throttle body that's causing the issue?

Cheers for the link. Nice and cheap at least.

I used to have an Omega and it had the same issue. Very jerky in low gears and when cruising it would randomly accelerate and deccelerate by 5mph or so without touching the pedal. It was much more pronounced in the Omega though. It would jump up and down through the revs when sitting idle in traffic and sometimes even cut itself out.

Very handy link. Thanks for that. Not sure if its something I could try myself but I'll have a look through the instructions. It was the same fix for the Omega - just to clean out the throttle body which would improve it a lot but never 100%.

Had my car in for few bits and bobs before NCT recently and mechanic told me not to bother getting it fixed as you could spend a few hundred replacing the throttle body. Presume he meant replacing it with new part with labour included? Anyway I'm a bit more informed now at least. Thanks again for replies.
