Hi, I am holidaying in salou in June and I was wondering if anyone knew of any bike hire shops where I could hire a good quality road bike for a couple of weeks.
For once Google seems to have drawn a blank.
    Cheers.:)

I hired from this crowd once.
They delivered the bike to my doorstep in portugal and picked it up. They will deliver anywhere in the iberian penimsula. It as a BH. Good condition.
It was expensive but at the time we were travelling with surfboards, pram and had to hire a car so it was the only option. If u can i'd recommend that u buy a bike box and bring your own. Way cheaper but a little more hassle.

Hired a road bike in Cambrils, just down the road from Salou 2 years ago, was very cheap. Get the bus to Cambrils and just ask in the tourist office in the centre of town. I did most of my cycling heading southwest, away from salou, lovely smooth roads, very little traffic and very courteous drivers. Some mountains that way too.

Bike shop in Cambrils is called Marine Bicicletes, 15 Pg La Salle, Tel. 977361739, Tourist office in center of Cambrils will direct you and it's only a 5 minute walk from there. Very helpfull staff and great route map in the shop showing some nice climbs; one in particular, called Coll de Mussara rises to 1050m. Apparently Lucien Van Impe trained around this area with his dad when he was 18. Enjoy!

Would you normally bring your own shoes and pedals?

Yes you would and jot down your bike geometry measurements a good shop will adjust to get you as close as possible to what you are used to

Found a flyer from this company in a hotel in Cambrils last week - rental prices and bike spec at

    http://mediterraniacyclingtours.com/rental.php

They deliver the bike to your accommodation.

Took a look at the shop recommended earlier - looked good but was closed from 13:30 to 17:00 so didn't get to see what they had to rent.

Sure let us know how you get on, heading over there in July and want to rent a bike myself, enjoy....

    Hi,
I don't think there's anywhere in Salou that rents good quality road bikes. Marine has good bikes and Mediterrania Cycling tours will deliver the bike to your hotel or whatever and pick it up when you're done. They also have a whole load of suggested routes on their website (links to Google Maps). The bikes are all new. The coast is not that interesting but if you go inland, the roads have great surfaces and very little traffic (stay off the national routes like the N340 or N***). If you do go inland, be prepared to pedal hard - the mountains don't look that impressive but there's a lot of climing. The views are worth it in the end and so is the downhill return. If you're going in July, be prepared to get out early in the morning to avoid the heat. Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm just back from Spain so i'll fill you in on what happened.
I rented a bike from www.mediterraniacyclingtours.com their bikes are all carbon Massi road bikes with shimano 105 running gear. They also have gps units for hire with a range of routes pre loaded to cater for all fitness lvls. One of their guys Roger dropped the bike to my accommodation and collected it 10 days later. He is a local tri-athlete and was a fountain of knowledge when it came to the routes to take etc.
When I rang the company to enquire about a booking I was pleasantly surprised to speak to an Irish guy called William who part owns the company and who has been living in Spain since 1995.
Overall they were very professional, a pleasure to deal with and incredibly helpful with the added bonus of being part owned by an Irish guy so communication was no problem. I will use them again.
