    Hi,

I've been asked if Id submit the golf results from our club to the local newspapers each week. Im just wondering which national papers, if any, still print the results each week? Thanks!!

I submit our clubs results to both the Irish Times and Irish Independent every Sunday evening the results are always published.

A slight aside but do results in the national papers serve much of a purpose anymore? I suppose they must considering papers are still publishing them. But with 99.9999% of clubs displaying their results on their websites, who would actually bother waiting until the next day, or days later in the case of the regional papers, to find out who won at their club? To be completely honest, I only ever check the golf results in the papers when I've won - to keep the cut out. Sad but true.

I only buy " d paper " ( Irish examiner ) once a week and that's on a Tues solely to read the golf results and news . I glance through them all and read the clubs I'm familiar with ... Sad but true :)

It also includes upcoming fixtures which can be a great help if not on the GUI calender.

I'm the same, only buy it on a Tuesday. Find the 2 pages on Tuesdays during summer comprehensive enough and interesting

I don't think that's sad at all and I would imagine a lot of people do the same (I certainly would), hence the demand for them still to be published.

If you need addresses for papers in the midlands, I have all the ones around Athlone from when I was P.R.O. in Athlone.

Think I still have Pat Ruddy's and the Examiner around somewhere aswell. I'll find them for ya

+1. Tuesday's golf coverage is good and gets better with Donal Hughes "Golf Central Daily" page.

I think the results in the paper is a good addition. When any of my friends feature, I take a picture on the phone and send it on to them. Think it's a nice for people to get recognised in the paper for a good score and even nicer if someone says to you that they saw you featured.

And then if the newspapers get additional (may be not significant) revenue on the back of it, it's win-win for everyone.

Just noticed this recently - put a smile on my face.

It is a nice idea - if not a bit outdated now.

Perhaps this is sad - but I'd love to get my name in the paper for golf - never have. Must try before they go off for ever.

    :o:)

It may seem outdated but I hope it continues!

New media, smart phones, tablets etc all have their place.... but that place will never be during the constitutional!
If I can't find a paper, then I'll print something out and bring it with me!

    :)

    I think its great personally!
its also handy to throw your eye over other clubs and see if someone you know pops up

I compile the results for the Examiner, so I hope the practice continues!
