I need to buy a 12-14ft box truck for use with a touring drama group. Must be a 3.5 ton so we can have multiple drivers. We have about €4k to spend. Just got the go ahead to buy, so looking for input.

I have been looking at Mitsubishi Canter, Isuzu NPR, and iveco Daily.
I would be of the opinion that the Canter is probably the best bet, considering its going to be 8 or 9 years old. Anybody have experience with any of these, particularly on known problems?

I know it will be a risk whichever way.

Any of the above are 3.5t.ish before you put a load into them, so to be legally loaded, Class C... I know of a nice Boardsie with a very very fresh 04 Transit box body 115hp complete with taillift who is selling it for 4k - would suit ye down to the ground. Same size body but fully legal on a car licence. Twin wheels on the back and DOE'd and Taxed, That'd be me btw.:)

Cheers, might well be interested, pm pics maybe to keep within charter?

The canters and nprs are common in 3.5t b licence form. Gives a small payload, 700kg or thereabouts. Similar to transit. I do think they might be a bit stronger than the ford, but if she's 14ft it might do me!

The NPR are very good, if you get one that has been greased regularly you wont go wrong. Id also keep an eye out for an old model 4 series sprinter that is derated to 3.5 ton, not very common but very reliable
