Anytime I see these audio discs in the shops/libraries they are usually novels or readings. Are any modern plays available in this country on CD?

Audible .com for anything. If you want them on cd, you can burn them from the downloads.

Not sure if it's what you're looking for but there's a Pod Cast called The Truth that send out pretty good modern plays.
