Has anyone used skycopy+ recently?

I just got a new Sky HD box (Amstrad DRX890-C) to replace my ancient Thomson box.

A few years ago I put my own Hard Drive - a 1 TB Samsung - in the Thomson.
Back then I formatted and transferred everything using skycopyplus.

Now the new Amstrad is fine but it's only got a 250GB drive in it. So I would like to replace it with the 1TB hard drive.

Looking in the forums of the copy+ website, there seems to be little support anymore and recently people are reporting problems.

    Has anyone used it recently?

    Thanks.

There is an issue that the later and newer Sky boxes use a different format system that is not supported by the skycopyplus program.

I can't remember the exact scenario, there is a way to get round it, using another program, you will have to go to the web site for the skycopyplus routines, and there is a discussion about it there.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

    Thanks.

Here's what I did in the end:

(It may not be the most effective elegant way to do it but it worked.....)

I used Skycopy+ to make a 'XTV backup image file' from the Thomson drive. This took ages - about 15 hours for about 500 GB - but it ran without any glitches.

Then I used another software tool called exPVR. This detected the previous skycopy+ image file as a source.

I checked all the stuff I wanted to keep from the image file and then chose 'Copy Checked To New Disk' from the Tools menu. That gave me the option to format the original drive for a DRX890 and away it went.

It took another 15 hours or so to bring it all back down. Then I just swapped out the Hard Drive on the box.

It was almost a complete success.:
A small number of recorded shows (~ 10 out of more than 400) seemed to be corrupted and wouldn't play. I had to delete them in the end.

    Otherwise it is fine.
Though I am a bit cross that Sky have commandeered 250G of my 1 TB drive for a service I don't want or use.
