TR 212 Saorview

    Hi all,

I have a problem with the Triax 212 Saorview and was wondering if anyone out there might be able to help me.

Whenever I press the Standby button, the TV goes off. If I press Standby again within a few minutes, the TV comes on again no problem. But when I left the Saorview on standby and then switch it off completely, the TV wouldn't switch on again. I tried switching on and off and connected another Saorview box to no avail. About four hours later, it started working again. This has happened on two occasions, weeks apart.

Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know if the fault might lie with the TV itself? (it's a Panasonic TX-28CK1L and is about 7 years old and has never given any trouble up to now and is working perfectly again now!!)
In the meantime, I will try to remember not to use the Standby function again!!

    Thanks

Similar one here.... same TR212 box, switch it to standby (no actual "OFF" option. isn't this against either law or best sustainability practice?) and it comes on again after about 600 seconds.

This happens either with or without a DVB-T signal, with or without a SCART connection and either with or without a HDMI connection.

The above happens if i use either the remote or the button on the unit.

also, what is the network port on the rear panel for? upgrades seem to be via USB only.

OP needs to be surer that their tv only misbehaves when the TR212 is connected.

The TV will not switch on whether the Saorview box is connected or not.

When the TV is working properly and I switch it on, I can hear a 'click' from inside it.
When the fault is on it, there is no click, same as if there is no power supply.

I'm having a weird problem with this box too. It keeps turning itself on after a few minutes. I returned one to DID and got a replacement but its doing the same thing. I've tried disconnecting the hdmi, antenna, hard drive. I've reset it , turned off auto search and auto standby.
If it turns itself on while the television is off then it becomes completely un responsive to the remote and just shows a blank screen. Is it something I'm missing or does this box have a design flaw?

I had this exact problem too. I changed from using HDMI to Scart and didn't get the issue any more. It appeared to be an issue with the HDMI crashing the box. Anyway, worth a try if you haven't used a Scart on it.
