    Hi,

I'm trying to locate the Chinese Consulate (for visas, etc.).

The address is 118 Merrion Road, Dublin 4.

I'll probably be staying at Bewley's in Ballsbridge. Is that right by the RDS and the Four Seasons and the Chinese Consulate just up the road a few minutes?

I want to double check what Google Maps is telling because the first time I typed it in it showed me a different route.

    Cheers.

Bewley's is just on the corner of Merrion Road/Simmoncourt Road, just across from the RDS, yes. So from what I remember you should only have to walk down Merrion Road.

Come out the gate of of Bewley's Hotel, keep right and immediately cross the Merrion Road at the traffic lights, then go right along the Merrion Road walking towards St. Vincent's Hospital. After about 350m you'll see a large dental practice on the left on the corner of Shrewsbury Park, that's No. 116, the Chinese consulate (No. 118) is next door just after the bus stop.

    Thanks, coylemj.

Do you know if there is parking at the Consulate?

I want to go straight there when I get to Dublin and don't know if Bewley's will let me park there and come back later to check in.

I'll call Bewley's tomorrow, but in case I can't I like to park as close as possible.

Car parking in Bewleys various hotels is typically open to all (incl. non-residents) and so is charged separately from the room charges, you get a ticket when you arrive and pay at a machine like most pay car parks so it shouldn't matter when you arrive to park. The website for the Ballsbridge Hotel says it's €1.50 per hour or €10 overnight.

Doesn't mean you can't chance your arm and ask them to validate the ticket when checking out but I don't think they do that in Bewleys.

Why do you need to stay in Dublin? Normal visa takes 4 days. You can park at Shrewsbury Park as it takes about 5 minutes to drop your application and collect your visa when the day comes.:)

Is Shrewsbury park nearby and is it a car park?

It's a not a 'car park', it's a quiet residential street which you can drive into by turning left off the Merrion Road if coming from town. Most of the houses have driveways so you should be able to get onstreet parking, it's charged at the green rate if you have the parkingtag smartphone app.

And yes, it is near the Chinese consulate. If you park in Shrewsbury Park, walk back to the Merrion road and turn left. There is a large detached house on the corner which is a dental practice. The consulate is the next house down the Merrion Road, just beyond the bus stop.
