    What's better value, on demand from sky or netflix?

    Purely on price Netflix is €7 a month, Sky on demand is at least €27 (you need to have a Sky tv subscription for on demand), so there's a saving of €20 a month at least with Netflix.

    Here are a few points:

    Sky On Demand is included with your subscription, therefore they can't be compared in terms of value.

    Netflix has a lot of older, less commercial content.

    Netflix is higher quality and streams start faster. Very fluid and slick on an Apple TV for example with instant playback if you have the broadband speed.

    You don't need a seperate box for Sky On Demand if watching on your TV.

    You can't compare like that!!

    Sky is the full package - HD box, recording, masses of broadcast channels, and on demand.

    You're right, don't forget Sky's installation cost, 12 month minimum subscription and the price increase on February 1st. :)

    Have to disagree with you there, content is excellent and even better if you can access the US version.

    As someone who long ago gave up sky for the freesat option I love it. Considering it announced an increase in profits and seeing as these types of services will be the norm in the future, I can only see it geting better.

    It has some great non-mainstream films and documentaries.

    OP check out instantwatcher and instantwatcher Ireland to see content. You're never going to get mainstream hollywood movies bar a few on these sevices, content is always been added so for the price of a dvd rental you're bound to find something you'll like.

    The content of Sky on demand depends on what package you are on. You don't get the movies if you haven't subscribed to movies etc.

    Sky Go Monthly Ticket is basically similar to Netflix. So no dish, no contract, one small monthly charge:
