    Hello,
Have played at St. Anne's a number of times (for €30 during the summer pre 0900hrs) and have enjoyed it and the great food in the clubhouse. Even when the greens getting work done it is still an enjoyable course to play.
I see they are open for members, €5K.
I am young enough to take a long view on it but I have heard they have taken in many members in last 18 months and it is nearly impossible to get out at the weekends?

    Would appreciate any reasonable advice/comment.

Personally I think you would be mad to spend that kind of money joining St Anne's. Average course(unless of course you have a fetish for bird s**t!) and unfriendly in my experience.

If you are looking at spending that kind of money I would call The Island and see what kind of deal you could get.

St Annes is a fine spot well looked after and a good challenge . I play it a bit and they work very hard on the course. It is a tough place for growth. Very cold and windy. The course just lacks a bit of height variation .

I think lads are harsh on it here. It has grown on me. It is old style golf club so can come across as a bit cold and inflexible . But most are nice lads.

Nearly joined. But still a bit expensive. But you pay for the club house and top class maintenance. Will be interesting to see if 5k holds. Id pay 3k.

If you are in it for the long haul and live close. There is much to be said for that. The lack of deep sand dunes makes it a fast and relaxing round. 3 1/2 hours no problem. In the long run would you fancy the island in your 50s and 60s. They are great to visit hard courses. But im beginning to think they are just too hard for day to day golf.

Maybe rose tinted glasses. But id highly rate at least 9 of the holes there. And the last 4 are card wreckers .

I like it. Not a classic . But a real club.
