Recommend travel insurance for 3 week trip to Sierra Leone please :)

    I'm off to Sierra Leone next week for 3 weeks.

    Can anyone recommend where I can get good insurance cover for the trip?

    I haven't had to make any claims yet but I've bought a multi-trip annual policy through http://ibk.travelguard.ie/homepage_2341_349568.html for the past few years.

    There are loads of insurance products out there so it's up to you as to what your priorities are, but make sure to read all the small-print. If you do any sort of regular travelling outside the EU an annual policy makes sense.

    Do check the terms specifically for the countries covered, I think Sierra Leone at some stage may have been excluded like Sudan, Afghanistan etc

    Some policies may not exclude countries at the moment but if the Department of Foreign Affairs recommends against travel to Sierra Leone then the insurance companies could use this to exclude claims.

    @OP - Would love to hear how you got on over there. Never been to Africa and wouldn't mind going somewhere off the beaten track.
