I heard that when the Luas opened, it was possible to get off at a stop and race after the train and get back on again at the next stop. Possibly at some of the stops between Dundrum and the city centre. I don't know anyone who did it though.

I finished a 12" Meatball Marinara with Drink and Doritos in 5 minutes. Does that count? :D

Are you sure it was 12"?

I "raced" the Luas on a bet from a friend last year between The Point and St. James hospital. I beat it pretty handily as all the stops really slow it down. I wasn't in particularly good shape then so I'd say I was running 6:15s mm max so not a very tough feat but pretty amusing and impressed my friend who has no idea about running...

I run from Parkgate to IFSC almost daily and I regularly beat the Luas to the IFSC. Between stops, etc you make up the ground you lose with its' greater speed.

I wouldn't be racing it per se (running steady), but if you did at race pace you'd win (anything less than 4min km will do it) almost everytime!
