Whats the best music to listen to while out running?

I'll listen to anything, really (I use it as noise to vlock out the voices :pac: ) but the stuff I'm mainly in to can be a bit slow at times and find it's not the best for running to.

What do youse listen to & recommend?

If there is already a thread, can someone link me up?

    Cheers

These days I am mostly listening to the Dropkick Murphys. Great for a bit of HTFU when you need it

Depends on distance. I find short runs up to 10 miles DUM DUM DUM is ok, 90's 00's dance. Anything more that 10 miles the DUM DUM DUM wrecks your head. Radio does the job believe it or not. You get involved in the radio, music, news, adds etc.

Funnily enough, I like Husker Du and Sugar. Anything loud with guitars and bass floats my boat.

I agree that radio is great during longer runs.

I like chill out rather than the get pumped music when running. Massive Attack or DJ Shadow.

    But:

Try dropping the music every once in a while!

I did it a while ago and haven't gone back since.

80s music works for me - can't beat a bit of Queen or Billy Idol.

    80s Power ballads.

REO speedwagon, Bonnie Tyler, that sort of thing.

AC/DC works for me everytime but also any live albums - Bullet in a Bible, AC/DC live, live in Dublin (the Boss) and Live and Dangerous are my favourites at the minute.

I usually run at 6am in the morning - tried running without headphones a few times but its too eerily quite for me (plus I can hear the dogs barking!!)

    slighlty off topic,

but as someone else said earlier, I have been trying to run without music recently and I'm really enjoying it.
I use a little ipod shuffle, very easy to clip on my shorts but as it only holds approx 150 songs I found I was constantly having to switch songs / download more etc, before getting bored.

I also found that I spend most time thinking anyway and sometimes didnt even realise what song was on.
Also, if I forgot to charge it I wouldnt bother going out at all.

I like the idea of a radio though.. and am thinking of sticking a few pod casts on for a change maybe.

Try "My Sporting Life"........usually last about 1:30mins, biographical type of show on a diff sportsperson each week with contributions from colleagues/friends/family..........very entertaining.

Also BBC sports week podcast. I find it a good discussion of the weeks sport.

Depends what sort of mood I'm in - progressive rock and metal (Rush, Dream Theater etc) is a bit of a favourite, that said if there's sports commentary or Off The Ball on the radio I'll generally stick that on instead.

I find the best music to be dance/rave music. Something with a litttle umph or kick. I can't imagine running to easy or soft or bland music.
