hi, we're totally renovating the house that we've just bought, our soon to be new home :-). We've almost settled on having an oak laminate timber floor throughout the ground floor and we're torn between white or oak doors for all of downstairs. We're a little concerned about having too much oak, and think maybe white, or indeed some other wooden door finish might be a better look. Any thoughts or advice?

ive gone into lots of places in my time and all oak (floors and doors) imo looks alot more classy. Plus painted woodwork gets dirty very easy.

    Hi
if you have lots of sunlight in your home then Oak floors & doors will work well. I would not consider using a different timber for the doors - it does not make visual sense.
But if you think your home could be brighter, then I would really recommend going for white, as it will reflect a lot more light around.
    Good Luck!

Personally i prefer white doors with timber floors. I think timber doors with timber floors looks ott but it does depend on the size of the space and the number of doors.

I suppose it all comes down to what you prefer yourselves.

White oak doors are quite brite if you go with oak flooring and doors think about satin wood painted skirtings and architrave it will make the wood work stand out a really nice finish

That's the way I would like them. White frames and architrave show off the doors more as your not drawn to the oak moulding around them rather the door itself.

White skirtings also make the floor jump at you, a really nice finish

Solid oak would be the way to go if it is your last resting place, cherry wood doors or some portion of the floors being cheery wood would look great beside the oak timber, they will age together, the sun light will effect how they look (not in a bad way) if it is solid timber,

laminate floors will always react different depending on where they are, I would only use laminate floors in bedrooms or frequently used areas.
