Hotel Website Terminology

Apologies in advance for what is possibly a stupid question.

I'm looking to book a room in a hotel for 7 nights in April. It is really important that this is a twin room (as in, that it has two beds, single beds are fine). When I go to book this particular hotel it gives me the option of:

Am I overthinking this too much, or is the second option of "Twin Bed" literally just a single, twin bed? If so, why would someone pick that over a King Sized bed?

    Thanks in advance!

Double bed is a large bed.
Queen is a quite large bed.
King is a really large bed.

    Twin is two beds.

In some places in Europe and elsewhere, twin may be presented as two singles side by side, looking quite like a double. All you need to do is move one to one side and move (for example) a bedside table in between them. This is normal.

That is exactly what I thought. But I was booking it over the phone with e-bookers and the guy told me it was one twin bed. I asked him to clarify and he was quite insistent that it was only going to be one bed, it's going to cost him a fairly decent sale if he is wrong, but I'll get him to check with a superior when he calls back.

Would it be the end of the world if it were a King? King beds are enormous.

    Would you catch the ghey?

Wouldn't be the end of the world, nah, I've shared smaller beds with the same bloke. But if I'm spending a few grand to travel half-way around the world I'd rather have my own bed for the week, as would he.

Also, if I'm booking with the Twin option then I don't want to end up finding out it is a single twin-sized bed and having to share that. :)

There is no such thing as a room with one twin bed.

Edit: Unless it's a zip link bed that hasn't been moved apart.

Ebookers rang me back and informed me that it is a single twin bed. Asked them to call the hotel on a conference call and the night-staff who answered spoke little English so I'm not booking it with them, will follow up with the hotel tomorrow.

    Thanks for the replies.

    So......a single bed then.

Why would a hotel do that?

I don't know, but I've a feeling they wouldn't and the call centre worker in ebookers got it wrong. I managed to get it booked but it is fully refundable, so I'll just follow up with the hotel tomorrow and I'm sure it will be two twin beds.

Surely they can't accept a booking for 2 people for a room with 1 twin bed, makes no sense at all.

Have you tried the hotel's own website, or others like www.booking.com or www.hotels.com ?

Got an e-mail back from the hotel today saying:

    "Dear Mr. .....

Thank you for your e-mail, please be inform you that we got your reservation booked 1 single room only.

However, if you have one fiend (sic) come to join we can make 2 single bed in your room and charge extra person @THB1,500.- per day."

So yeah, I'll be cancelling that. Jokeshop.

Edit - Actually just checked booking.com and there is the option for 2 Single Beds there. I'll cancel e-bookers booking and book it again myself.
