Other halves VW Golf 2010 tdi has been giving trouble yesterday and now they left it into garage. Lives the other side of the country but tells me 2 engine lights were on the dash and loosing (a lot of) power on hills. Limped into the garage.
Any ideas guys? Egr? Turbo? Good ole VW reliability in all its glory again!

    1.6 one, the basic model.

Only way to know for sure is an OBD scan. VW's do go into 'safe mode' in some engine light conditions meaning the rev's will be limited hence the apparent loss of power.

How much could that be? Car only has done 65,000km. Not a VW fan man myself and this reminds me why!

Any anti pollution lights ?, could be blocked DPF . has the effect of and exhaust brake by smothering the engine.

to my knowledge there can be a fault with the egr cooler some sensor in the egr cooler failing... have seen a hand full of 1.6tdi with this fault, normally i believe vw goodwill cover all parts & 70% of labour, leaving u to cover €125 or 30% of labour cost, if the car is out of warranty, new egr cooler fitted is covered by a 2 year warranty

    There is your answer.

The car is 9 months old. I wouldn't expect any warranty if I was over the mileage by 7000km unless the warranty was for a full year (Be careful to note any mileage cap, most warranties are capped) Maybe some leeway to be expected if I was 700km over the warranty or if the car was recently (And regularly) serviced.

I can't see your point. Why do you believe you are being wronged by the dealer? For the record I have no commercial interest in the car trade however I do have a retail business interest.
