    Hi, I was wondering where I can find a list of the Geographical areas used by HEAR to determine if my daughter would be eligible? Her school isn't on the DEIS list and we wouldn't qualify under the social group either. I have gone onto the website, but there doesn't seem to be a list?
    Thanks

    Thanks for that, I know the school isn't on the Deis list. I was wondering where to find the list of the areas that are considered''disadvantaged''. For example an area with a lot of unskilled workers, or a large farming community could be listed as ''disadvantaged'', and I can't seem to find the list anywhere. The CAO told me they don't have it and they don't think it is published anywhere..could that be right if it is a list used for public funding??

    Is there a lot of council housing where you live? Is there a great deal of unemployment?
    Are most people on FIS? Do most people not progress past JC level?

    I think you'd have a fair idea by looking around whether you lived in a disadvantaged area or not.

    They are called RAPID areas

    It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    One council estate in the town, unemployment like most places in ireland, and i wouldnt know anyone elses financial situation. My confusion comes from thinking it would be easy to know what a disdvtgd area is, but...i have been told if there is a large farming community in the area it could be classed as a D/A?!

    May be useful for next years applications;
    This website maps the whole island on the basis of deprivation. Click on the Pobal option (on left) and zoom in to an area to find out it's category.http://airomaps.nuim.ie/flexviewer/?config=AIDepIndex.xml
