Best Insurance with DUI

Hey, so I used to live in N Ireland, I have just recently moved home, I was caught on a DUI back in 2010 and served a one year ban and had to resit my test.

Does anyone know any good insurers that will quote with a DUI conviction in the past?
Most online websites or brokers do not seem to want to quote with the DUI conviction but I am assuming there has to be some...

    Any info would be great.

I think, in general, your previous insurer here is obliged to quote you after a ban, you may not get the price you'd like though.

In your case though it may be complicated if you had Northern Irish insurance at the time of the ban.

You might get a better answer in motors

Did you ever have an insurer in the Republic?

You've already got the same thread here.

Get a broker. Make sure you disclose the DD conviction.

Already spoke to brokers, they have said basically it won't fit their criteria for a search, that I would need to contact the insurance company directly.

The previous thread is different, that was about what do I need to disclose, this thread is asking does anyone know any insurers that will do this for me?

What you need to do is take out the phone book and ring around all the different insurance companies. If any company refuses to quote you ask them for a letter stating this. Make notes of the dates and times of the phone calls and the order in which you contacted the insurance companies. Once you have three or more companies refuse to give you insurance you can contact the motor insurance federation of Ireland who will get you an insurance quote.

    OK thanks....

My experience is that they will quote me, but it will be radicals, there has to be some insurance companies out there that give reasonable quotes with relation to this.

In the UK I remember some where quoting 6K, 7K and 8K but in the end I got it for 1600, if I was still in the UK my renewal would be 1200.

I am kind of hoping someone know of one that will do it! For example if you are in the UK I would advise on using First Central Insurance, probably the best you can get with a DUI.
