Anyone actually gotten a job/interview from jobs.ie?

The amount of ones I've applied for on that website is ridiculous, and I haven't got one call/interview/anything wanting to take my application further. I have a few years experience with the type of jobs I apply for and my cover letter is worded pretty well, also have good references so I don't get it.. I know people both my age (18) and adults who are in the same situation with that website. I know they probably get a stupid amount of applications 'cause it's a well known website but still! I'm not taking it personal or anything but it just makes me wonder has anyone actually managed to get a job from it? Or even an interview?

I've gotten two jobs off jobs.ie in the past, including the job I'm currently in. So there's no conspiracy there.

I haven't. Nor have I heard of anyone who has...

I further understand Jobs.ie do a paper sift of applications received as a value-add service to clients. I think it's done by looking for key words in the applications. It's not exactly scientific!

So what I do now is look for the employer's website/e-mail address and apply directly from there too. Kind of a belt and braces approach.

Never even got a reply saying thanks but no thanks .
I used to apply to every new job on the site every morning .
Jobs go to friends and family of the companies now . Job sites are a waste of time . I think asking your mate down the local if there is any jobs going in his place is the only way to get a job now .
Even when you hear on the news about 60 jobs being created somewhere . The jobs are gone before the announcement is made .
Especially building jobs . An announcement saying 200 plumbing jobs were created at intel just means a company has somewhere to send its staff when the job they are on finishes . Its very rare somebody sends a cv in and gets the job .

Posting ads is just a formality now. They do it so the HR guys don't get in trouble for employing those they know.

I got my current job through jobs.ie. I had spent months applying to different jobs and only got a handful of replies and three interviews. There will be thousands of people on that site daily and my current boss told me he tried to reply to unsuccessful applicants individually but just couldn't get through them and ended up sending the same response to everyone.

I got a call for an interview tomorrow but it's a commission only job so I won't be attending.

I've had 2 jobs and an interview from jobs.ie. keep on applying and try other sites as well. It can be demoralising applying for lots of things and not hearing anything, but hopefully persistance will pay off.

Plenty of people have gotten jobs via Jobs.ie. (Hundreds of thousands of people?)

Make sure your CV is perfect, make sure you tailor your cover letter for each job, and keep applying for jobs...

Same as the OP, literally everyday since mid September I've applied for advertised jobs on this site, no exaggeration either my email sent box is quite amazing I actually went through it the other day and I'm sure I haven't so much as had 5% of them even acknowledged.

Like someone above pointed out, best way of finding a job now is through knowing somebody directly offering a job. I start Monday week with a crowd I know somebody from.

I won't be wasting another moment to these rubbish sites in future if I'm unlucky to be unemployed again. Unfortunately in the construction game though it could be likely but at least now I know where I'll be avoiding for sure.

Yeah I'm sure people have but I was looking for personal experiences 'cause anybody I know in person who has tried it has had the same experience as me.

Yeah that's how I got my last job - knowing someone. Was actually my first job too so without that I'd have no experience and stand no chance of getting a job now so I'm lucky I got it. I've since moved though so unfortunately don't know anyone around now who could sort me out! Good luck with yours though!

I know Jobs.ie quite well and I can tell you for a fact they have helped a very large number of people get a job... it's the reason why they are so successful.

The problem at the moment is that there are so many people applying for each job.

Don't give up :) Keep applying. It'll eventually work out for you.

I don't mean to cause offence but have you considered getting someone to help you to freshen up your CV and maybe review how you word applications? You could be the best applicant but it is no good if you cannot get passed first base. A second pair of eyes might pick up a mistake or two you may have overlooked that could make the difference :)

I have gotten a few job interviews of the site... Hate to say it but employers may be overlooking you because of your age in favour of more experienced candidates. Don't give up hope

Ive had interviews, and Job offers from using Jobs.ie , as previously stated, make sure your CV is as good as it can be and keep at it, so many replies to job ads every day so make sure you stand out, I would advise that when you reply to jobs.ie that your cover letter may be as important as your CV..

    It's complicated...

Let's just say my relationship with them is not as a jobseeker. :)

The job required a Master's degree and 4-5 years previous experience, which I have. However, as previous posters have mentioned, I spent a bit of time adapting my CV and writing a good cover letter. Employer rang to explain what the position involved and wanted to know when I would be available for interview. Salary isn't bad either.

A lot of the jobs have screening questions, and if you don't meet the requirements of the the questions asked that's as for as your application will go unfortunately.

I do really hate the fact companies HR seem to not replying to jobseekers, I know that they can be inundated with applications but even a crappy generic email is better than not hearing anything.

Got my current job using jobs.ie. Took close on 6 months of searching, I did get a number of interviews during that time but coming straight from Uni with little experience in the field generally didn't help much.

I got a job from it as well, nice handy part time work when I was in college. The guys who hired me told me they had hundreds of applications and whittled it down to 10 for interviews.

But yeah, hundreds of people are probably applying for every job there these days.

Just got one PFO email a few weeks back. And I was glad I even got that.
