I do love myself some craft beer but some of my favorites have a really high Alcohol %, Belgian stuff usually.
I can't really drink more than 3 or 4 before i start getting a bit too drunk.

I've been trying to find some beer that i can enjoy drinking without having to worry about getting to drunk, something at the 4% mark or lower.

Easier said than done, the ones I've had taste fairly bland.
    Anyone able to suggest some?
(if you can add a place i can purchase that would be awesome! :D)

Jarl by Loch Fyne Ales is very nice and full of flavour and is only about 3.8%.

There are a lot of English/Irish/Scottish craft beers in the 4-5% range.

+1 for Jarl. Magnificent beer. It comes and goes but any decent beer off licence should have it when it's in the country.

That is an astonishingly good point. :o
Live in Dublin City, Portobello area.

Will defiantly go looking for some Jarl later today.

Get over to The Bull & Castle, O'Hara's make them a golden ale that is 3.8%

Yeah, Buckley's is quite decent. I think it may up to 3.9% ABV now. Also sold in Ryan's of Parkgate Street. The Porterhouse have TSB which I'm quite fond of: 3.7% ABV, though it's not always on now that they have more of a cask selection. You'll likely get Jarl down the street in Carvill's or Whelans, or else above in Deveney's Rathmines or Redmond's of Ranelagh.

BrewDogs Nanny State comes in at just under 1%ABV, it's quite delicious.

I'm also a fan of Jarl, it's a good session drink.

I don't think Nanny State is brewed any more by Brewdog. Their 3.8% Dead Pony Club beer should be out here around February 1st according to FourCorners.

Tesco had Lee's "Brewers Dark" for €1 a bottle last time I was there - haven't tried it but its only 2.8% and gets generally positive reviews.

They also had Beacon Bitter (although at full price), I think its in the 3% range and is very tasty

Jarl is one of the best low abv beers out there IMO. Isn't Whitewater's Copperhead around the 3.8% mark? Was never overly fond of it but is decent enough if your looking for something low abv.

I have seen a few low abv beers in tesco in cork but they seem to have a fairly random way of stocking them so they may not be in dublin,
One is tribute a cornish ale thats 4.2% that is actually nice and seems to have won a few awards looking at their website
Two i havnt tried is adnams sole star thats only 2.7% and im pretty sure they have lighthouse aswell at 3.4%,

Another vote for Jarl. Really top stuff. Think they sell them in the Cheers line of off-licenses as well.

A bit of an off-the-wall suggestion, but have you considered brewing your own? I do a lot of running, but also enjoy a tasty beer, so have been making some batches of very hoppy ales that come in at around the 3.7% mark. I'm just after making a batch 'draught ale' loaded up with Hersbrucker hops, which came in at 3.7%. The cost of making the batch (once you have the initial equipment) came to around €20 for 38 x 500ml bottles, and you can make a really top notch beer.

Adnam's Sole Star is in Tesco's 5 for €11 range. It's only 2.8% and it's pretty tasty, very easy to drink a lot of it.

Thornbridge Wild Swan is delicious and only 3.5%. Not unlike Jarl.

I had myself some Jarl the other day. Great suggestion, Mid-week drinking need not result in having to worry about the morning. ;)

I'll have a look around now for Thornbridge Wild Swan.

Jarl's great stuff alright. Whitewater's Copperhead is 3.7% and very good, perhaps not as tasty as Jarl.
Also liked Brakspear Bitter, which was 3.4%. But only ever bought it in McHughs and haven't seen it around in a while.

Shepherd Neame also do some beers around the 4% mark, Master Brew, Kent's Best.

My lighter go to beer these days is Landlord. It's about the 4% ABV and exceptionally smooth yet warming. If I want a bit more body then O'Hara's red is de rigeur.

As mentioined, Buckley's at the Bull and Caste is 3.8% and only €4 a pint. Definitely look out for Dead Pony Club from Brewdog as well, it's delicious.

Of course you could always make your own low alcohol beer as well. http://www.beoir.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&id=5&Itemid=37 :D

J.W. Lees Brewers Dark is a lovely low ABV dark ale, it's 2.8%.
