Insurance Quote

    The GF got a quote recently for her renewal, all on paper, proposal form etc etc
    Thing is, we rang up to edit something about the start date and the girl said that initial quote was wrong, that she applied a discount that she should not off.

    My question is, do they have to honour the quote?
    Should she just send back the form and cheque? The quote is €80 cheaper than here current policy and is actually a better policy too.

    Afaik you are not entitled to the lower price as it would state in the terms of the quote that is is valid for x number of days provided all information is correct. They have now withdrawn this offer. If you had set it up they couldn't charge more but as its just a quote I don't think your entitled to it. I am open to correction on this however

    CPC 2012

    Insurance products
    4.30 A regulated entity providing an insurance quotation to a consumer must include the following information in the quotation, assuming that all details provided by the consumer are correct and do not change:
    a) the monetary amount of the quotation;
    b) the length of time for which the quotation is valid; and
    c) the full legal name of the relevant underwriter.

    So as long as no changes were made to the details of the quote, they have to stand by it. Otherwise, an offer can be revoked at any time. If you edit the start date, it is no longer a renewal, it is a new quote.

    In my experience they'll always stand over a quote, but you may have to lean on them quite hard. I don't think they're under any obligation, and spodoinkle's quote does nothing to convince me otherwise. :)

    Thanks. shes just gona post everything in and see what they say.
    not worth a fight but if she gets it then great if not, then her renewal is in the ball park of what she expected anyway.
