    hi there

have an electrolux tall freezer, 4 years old. every few weeks or so it starts beeping that the temperature is dropping! there is an option that you can use when you lets say do a big shop and put more food in it that boosts up the cold for a few minutes - when it beeps we run then and all is ok again for another few weeks!

when we spoke to their support they said that its over 1 year old we need to get an engineer out. They wouldn't even entertain a question! which I thought was a bit much!

    any ideas?

Is is a self defrost freezer? If it is, it's most likely a vent blocked by ice within the freezer. These will have a fan inside to pass the cold air around. This can be caused if the door was left ajar for any period of time and the moisture builds up on the evaporator or a blockage on the drain. If there is a big build up of ice, you will need to defrost it completely.
