BMW 116I Timing chain

    My timing belt went the other day, its a BMW 116 2005. BMW garage has told me it will be 1800 euro to fix.

    Mentioned the recall which btw i was never informed of and they said that its only for a certain part of the timing chain. Can anyone plz advise. Im a student and dont have 1800 euro :(

    Any help would be much appreicated

    Main dealers will charge you top dollar in labour rates to do the job and not worth it imo on an 8 year old car, best thing to do is get a good independant garage to quote you for the same work. Their labour rates will be alot less.
