Converter after adding yellow tint to photos?

Hi guys, I took photos at a college food event with a Nikon D3100 and was asked for copies of the photos by my lecturers. The photos were taken in .NEF format I needed to convert them into jpegs so I downloaded the nef to jpeg converter (from neftojpeg.com) Its after putting a yellow tint on all the converted jpeg photos, any idea why its after doing this? or how to go about fixing it? Do all converters add this tint? and if so why? Any recommendations on converters I should use instead?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use the software that came with the camera. Sounds like the white balance was set incorrectly and will need to be set before conversion.

The white balance should be at whatever it was set at when the photo was taken, it sounds like the program is deciding to apply it's own white balance setting, it could be setting it all the way into the orange side.

Try a different piece of software, there's loads of them out there. I use photoshop so I've only used an alternative once.

If it's not the white balance it could be a widespread bug in Windows where the image viewer program has a yellowish tint due to windows screwing up colour profiles.
    See here for example:

fast stone viewer would be one option for a free image viewer/converter which allows some control over white balance.

Thank you for your replies! I downloaded the Nikon software ViewNX2 and I was able to convert the images into jpegs and the yellow tint isn't coming up anymore!
