Ford Fiesta 2010 Alloy Wheel Nut Question Please

    Hi Everyone,

Apologies up front for this question but apart from being able to drive the car, check basic fluids usage under the bonnet, change a wheel & get it serviced annually, I know little more about the workings & what should or shouldn't be right etc..

My wife used to drive a 2007 Ford Fiesta with standard Ford Alloy wheels & those wheels had wheel nuts nuts that had 'no play' in them if you tried to twist or pull with your hand.

She recently got a Ford Fiesta 2010 with standard Ford Alloy wheels & just out of curiousity checked the wheel nuts & noticed there was a 'small amount of play' in the nuts if you twisted them back & forth. Just loose not full revolution turns.

I obviously made sure the nuts where tight with a wheel brace & they were so I'm guessing on this newer Fiesta, what we thought were the wheel nuts are actually just some form of cosmetic nut cap or cover ?

I was hoping someone with a similar car could confirm this or someone exposed to working on that generation of Fiesta model might be able to let me know please ?

Thanks in advance for any feedback if possible.

The play you are feeling is the covers on the wheelnuts, nothing to worry about. If you remove one you will see what I mean.

    Much obliged for your feedback.

I hadn't taken any of the wheel nuts off fully yet (to examine them more closely) but thanks to your answer, I won't need to do that.

Appreciate you taking the time to help me with my question here.

    Cheers.
