    Hi
Planning to draft up a will.
Do I need a solicitor or can I do it myself?
    Thanks
    M

You really should get a solicitor, there are 1000000's of pitfalls that imprecise language could land you in.

Honestly you could do it yourself but don't go into thinking you can just bang stuff down. Start by asking yourself would you read this and a book or two on the subject. If the answer is 'No' then see a solicitor and shop around it should be a relatively low fixed fee for a will.

You'll save 60 quid and it could cost thousands or tens of thousands to rectify the mistakes that you are likely to make.

There is no law against doing it yourself, but it's not a good idea.

Sry for bumping this thread. Am also interested in this. How much approx would it cost to have your will done by a solicitor?

Some solicitors do them for free. I made mine that way.
