Checked Baggage - Aerlingus/United

I'm flying out to Houston (from Dublin) Feb 25th, returning the 27th

Flying to Chicago and have an hour and a half layover before the connection to Houston. Same kind of time frame on the way back.

Now, I've been through Chicago before but not in years and not sure I remember it, just know it's busy. I'll be getting from Terminal 5 to Terminal 1 (and vice versa on the way back) and am a little antsy now I won't have enough time to collect my baggage in O'Hare and recheck it onto the united flight, if I need to. Do Aerlingus check the bags the whole way through?

Can't find anything about it on my itinerary and avoiding another call to the helpdesk after some seat booking disaster this morning. Is there a standard procedure involved here or will I need to call up to check specifics?

    Thanks in advance.

There should be no problem with your bags going straight through - so you don't need to collect and check at O'Hare

As you'll pre-clear Immgration and Customs in Dublin before the Aer Lingus flight, your bags will be sent on to United automatically for you. (Flights that clear Immigration/Customs on arrival in the USA mean you have to pick your bags up, and walk them through Customs manually, and drop them off just after).

On the way back, the US goverment don't really care ;) United will check it in Houston and you'll pick it up in Dublin.
