First of all, thanks for reading. Where do I start, I suppose the positive points....

I've an amazing Girlfriend and 1 year old son, successful job, very good lifestyle, no real financial worries.

    The negatives...

I always feel there is something missing in my life, what it is, I'm not sure, I totally lack motivation the last 12 - 18 months and basically procrastination is stealing my life day by day, I've some really good opportunities open to me at the minute, and everything is put off, "I'll do it tomorrow", "next Monday I'll start a fresh"

I taught when my son came along it would give me the kick I need, alas, I'm still in the same situation.

I'm constantly comparing myself to everyone else (In looks, material assets, confidence, anything really) and my self esteem is really low. I suffer from anxiety in certain situations although I've never sought medical advice as I don't think its severe enough.

My job involves me dealing with people on a daily basis, but outside work I try to avoid social meetings where god forbid, I might meet new people!

I think I'd be classed as a confident person, I'm not, I'm like a duck, on the surface everything looks OK, underneath my mind is in overdrive over analysing everything.

Its gotten to the stage where its affecting my health.

In the last couple of years I've noticed I get palpations and my heart stops for periods, I've got it checked and it shouldn't cause me any issues, but I'm starting to see the link between when I have the arrhythmia and when I'm worrying about the most trivial of things!

I'm not sure where to go next, I need to tackle these issues and just feel confident in myself.

Anyone any suggestions for courses / books to help me?

I'd recommend looking up Eric Thomas. Fantastic motivational speaker.

As for comparing yourself to others, it's irrelevant. You should always say to yourself that there is no reason why you're not enough, because really, there isnt. I'd also recommend watching the movie Fight Club, somehow that helped me to stop comparing myself with others. You just have to worry about yourself and what makes you happy. You're in a position (GF, kid, money) that most of the country would kill to be in at present, that's a reflection of you and your great work! Be proud of yourself!

OP, I would go to counselling, it sounds to me like you would really benefit from it. Do it for your child and girlfriend and do it for yourself.
