Recommendation circa €300

Hi Folks,

just looking for something decent for a colleague who is retiring. €300(ish) budget but it will have to be bricks & Mortar in Dublin as i'll need it for this Friday. Any suggestions from the knowledgeable folk around here ? I'm conscious that the budget is somewhat limiting, but I'm sure we can get someting

gonna need a bit more info! male or female? age? is it a retirement gift or a leaving present? what do they currently wear watch wise? sorry for all the questions but the more info we have the better we will be able to direct you!

It is a bit of an open question with many many answers. For that money you have lots of decent and not so decent options.

I would suggest the following:
1) Try to figure out what type watch he may like.
A classic mechanical watch with leather or metal strap?
A more modern watch with lots of dials and a busy face?
A digital watch?
A daily beater?

Also try to see what he has at the moment. Dont get something the exact same. The beauty of having multiple watches is having a choice of style depending on your mood or what you are doing.
Assuming that he is not in to extreme sports and that he is in his mid-60s then I would suggest a classic look with a leather strap. Not too showey but good looking.
2) Once you have an idea of what type of watch you want to get him then head in to the city and have a look at what is available.
3) Avoid 'fashion' watches. Try to stick with a well known watch brand.
4) I would reckon someone in their mid 60s would appreciate a mechanical watch rather than a battery operated one.

Personally - without knowing your colleague I would be going for something like the below which is in Sheerans. (I am not sure of the exact price of this model)

All Seiko's - and IMO suitable for a retiree, but obviously you know this person and their tastes etc.

You could potetially order online if they would ship by overnight courier, but you should have enough choice in Dublin.
