That was a subtle reference to Bertie's opinion/advice for people who were questioning the robustness of the celtic pyramid just before it collapsed into a heap of debt that suddenly took on a nationality and became 'ours'.

When is any of our representives going to speak out about this ? The whole damned lot of our Td,s should be hanging their heads in shame with this carry on.

While this is disgusting behavior, it certainly isn't surprising. Our "leaders" have demonstrated time and again over the past number of years that they have nothing but contempt for the tax paying voters of Ireland. They have absolved themselves of any sense of accountability for the state of the country and also ensured that they are almost entirely immune from it's negative effects.

While the state they "lead" is in economic freefall they - across ALL political hues - continue on as if it's nothing to do with them and continue to pillage the states coffers.

Guess again, they'll just rob all the teachers & garda pensions instead. Or make them wait until they are 75 to get them.

FORMER Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has been taking his full €150,000 a year pension since he left the Dail, after reversing his decision to give part of it back to the State.

The revelation comes as new figures released under Freedom of Information legislation show that only seven out of 116 former ministers gave up part of their pensions last year, despite the introduction of a simple system to allow them to do so.

None of the Fianna Fail ministers who presided over the economic crash gave up any part of their pensions.

& seems like it's not just girls on AH claiming BTEA that don't understand how PRSI is meant to work:
Fianna Fail Leinster MEP Liam Aylward, who receives a salary of €91,000 for his work in Brussels, said he had surrendered his ministerial pension of €10,000 last year and would be doing the same this year.

But he confirmed he was still accepting his TD's pension of €53,000 a year. "I paid for the TD's one. That's a different issue," he said.

At least Michael D. gave back 88,000 of his pension & stood by this decision. The gulf in decency & class between the two of these men is deafening.

Is anyone really surprised tho, it would be fantastic to be a country like Iceland & trial these cretins in a court of law for crimes against the Irish people but even our judicial system is a farce

Right, this isn't working out. If you want to discuss it politely, try the Politics forum.
