Trying to plan a kitchen at the moment. May have to put the sink on the island, which is something i originally didnt want. Any thoughts or experience on this please and how well/or not it works/looks please?

There is no real difficulties with an island sink once it works with layout of the rest of the kitchen and you have enough prep space elsewhere. Try to ensure that the dishwasher is in the island and that you have sufficient wtop space around it and behind. The main problem that I see with is all the stuff that accumulates around sink which will be on full view, if you are fairly tidy it won't be a problem. You could also put a tiled/glass/stone upstand on the island behind the sink with a raised breakfast bar to sit at and this will camouflage the sink from the rest of the room. You could also put a pull out bin system in the cupboard next to the sink and that will keep all the mess in one spot.

We have installed these in a number of homes and they always look and work really well, its down to choice really but most important is the drainage if its not done right with cleaning access it will be a life long hart ache

We are putting an undermounted sink in the island and hopefully it will work OK. An island without a sink or a hob just becomes a dumping ground imo. We are putting the dishwasher and bins further back in the kitchen so that the dirty dinner dishes aren't stacked on the island until someone (me) gets around to loading the dishwasher.
