    Hello everyone,
On your travels, have you ever come across one of the original Daihatsu Charade 3 cylinder diesels? Now I know the body will be practically non existant, giving that they were rotting like a pear from the day they hit the road, but one with a complete, non seized engine would do my job.
    Many thanks,
    Iver in Cavan.

Quite amazing that! The local garage had an agency for them in the late 80's, and some of the first ones they sold needed complete restoration by the age of 6 ! Just need a working engine for a project I'm working on. BTW do you remember the Subaru Mini Jumbo? An Uncle bought one new, 600cc twin cylinder engine, 4 door hatchback. When you opened all the doors, there was practically nothing left!

I bought a white one new in 1993 and had'nt seen it since I sold it in 1996.

Then a couple of weeks ago I saw it twice parked in Waterford.

    93 W 1318

    Looked perfect.

I bought a new one (van type) in 92

    92 WH 929

If I recall correctly, it cost me £3,500 new, and the first years insurance cost me £4,400 !!!

    Great little bus though

    Hi

    Just noticed this thread.

I have 2 of these diesel charde one from 1985 and one from 1986.
Rust killed them years ago for road use at least.....
Did 200.000km in them together :D

Both for sale, but distance could be a problem : I live in Denmark

Feel free to contact me, if ever in DK on vacation, the engine fits in almost any trunk. (john_madsen (guess_what_goes_here) live.dk)

Theres very few wee Charades about these days. I came wild close to buying a GTTi project over the summer but the sheer hassle in trying to find any sort of parts both put me off and explained why so many of them died a death over the years
