LED + switch circuit

Just want to put a 3 pin switch in an Led circuit. Do I connect the positive pin on the switch in series with the resistor and positive on the battery??

A 3 pin switch will normally have the centre pin to the battery and one of the outer ones to the load. The resistor can go in series anywhere along.

I think you have the right idea. It sounds like you're using a SPDT switch, usually the middle pin on the switch is the common pin, so just connect the middle pin and either of the other two in series with the circuit.

You can connect the switch at the positive terminal of the battery or at the neg terminal (or between the resistor + led if you're adventurous!) since opening the switch will break the circuit and turn the led off
