Bluegate Motor Company

    Hi all.

just wondering if anyone's dealt with the company. Chap who's there is nice and gives a good story, but as my mechanic is swamped under, and having a little knowledge, and finding no fault with the car i am looking at, id like to double check in terms of later issues, or how things were with the company.

they offer a 3 month engine+gearbox on an 04 car, and MAPFRE if wanted for 350 euros (for a year - i am not too keen on that though).

As the car is in demand (having looked at a number of them in different places over last few days - and all selling pretty fast), i might have to move on this asap, but would welcome info!

    Thanks

Well, being part of a major and long standing motor group with a reputation for fairly decent service must give it some sort of standing over a fly-by-night operation with lots of threads/posts slagging it off...

What are you looking to find out exactly that you require such specifics?

i would say its somewhat being over-cautious, and a little bit of human nature, to try and find a fault somewhere.

Its good to know that they have some kind of history, though its a one-man operation.

i would have loved to have a mechanic have a look at the car at short notice, but im not sure its possible. when you are dropping 6k into a car, you'd want to make sure of it...

in the end, if its not going to happen, its not going to happen (i wonder if i am trying to convince myself not to go ahead with this).

If you really like it and are sure you'd buy it if your mechanic said Yes, maybe put a holding deposit on it to get them to keep it for a few days.

Can you not get an AA Inspection if your mechanic can't make it? It's not cheap, but it's money well spent for peace of mind

goochy, is that true? its a dealership that for once doesnt seem to get too many bad reviews.

im after a car there (its not the most expensive of the lot) but to me, money is still money, and im very afraid of investing in something and getting my heart broken (i had an e90 that nearly did that).

I dont believe in MAPFRE. i have seen threads about them, and i see you have posted in that as well. i rely on the dealer's warranty coming good, and i would have hoped it would cover slightly more than just engine and gearbox for 3 months.

However, i do understand this is a business. I am going to go again tomorrow, and ask if i can get it inspected. i will probably put down a deposit, though i will need to clarify if i will get it back if something bad comes out of the inspection and i wouldnt want to deal with it etc etc.

its a lot of ifs. We'll see tomorrow.

but im happy to see someone come out and say "this is mine" and its actually not having any bad reviews. and i respect that tremendously.

    well done..
