Car Valuation

Hey there, as I'm completely green on buying and selling cars I just have a quick question....

Is there anywhere I can expect to get an honest valuation of my car within the current market? Will car dealerships do this?

I've had a look at similar models on carzone but the ones from dealers are highly valued for profit and the private sellers are priced high also but may be open to offers.

I just want to know a fairly accurate figure of what I could expect to get for my car were I to sell it.

    Thanks in advance :)

look on donedeal, carzone seems to be a bit of a dreamers world and cars seem to be there for ever.

I know! :) some of the cars I looked at the adds we're dated last Summer yet they still popped up when I did my search!

    Thanks! :)

The majority of Donedeal adds are private (sensibly priced) while Carzone seems to have loadsa dealers (crazy prices)..Avoid Carzone unless your looking for a car with a warranty. You should get a good indication as to what your cars value is using Donedeal.ie

but don't make the mistake many make when they see a car on DD from a certain year for 2 grand for example, and its the cheapest, so then expect all cars of that model and make to be 2 grand.........some real sh!it/scrap are priced cheap to get rid off, but better cars can be a bit dearer, but may be worth the additional outlay.....there is a massive shortage of good quality second hand cars, and many will tell you its a buyers market.....it is in its arse, if you have a good car to sell, its a sellers market!

Very true, just like the housing market - tons of cheap stuff out there, 95% of it being cack.

    04 VW PASSAT 130bhp 6 speed 1.9 dsl

Looking like 3k is rough market value :(

Rough being the word. There's a lot of shoddy passats out there.
Don't be afraid to ask bigger if your car is above average condition. there's people out there that will go silly money on passats if the car is right.

As above, if the car is right then it will fetch good money. There is always a market for a good Passat TDI. A lad I know who deals in trade stuff is asking just over €4k for a really nice 2003 130bhp with 129k on it and I have no doubt he will get it. It is an exceptionally good car though.
