    is it possible?

all the info online regarding sram wifli seems to pair it with a compact.

just wondering if anyone has paired an apex/force/red wifli setup with a double chainset?

Just a guess, but the extra teeth on the 53 front ring might require a slightly longer chain, which in turn would require a bigger rear derailleur cage to take up the slack. Probably not a problem.

Assuming you have a standard double and short cage rear mech, it now depends on the difference in the largest/smallest tooth count of the cassette. At best you will get away with adding a few chain links and a B-Tension adjustment in order to keep the rear mech clear of the 28 and 32 sprockets. At worst you will have to get a long reach cage for the rear mech also.
I have seen an MTB 11/32 cassette working fine on a road bike with a compact chainset and a longreach cage. And you can still eat your lunch while tackling the toughest of climbs.

    Lol!!!

thats the plan. breakfast roll on the gap...

the sram wifli setup has a mid cage - see here:

there is a force kit i think this year as well.

its part of that dream bike build that i spend my time pricing...

Not just SRAM, i notice the default configuration for new Canyon roadlites is shimano 105 compact with 11/32 cassette. Makes me feel less guilty about hanging onto my old campag triple with 53/42/30 and 13/28.

It's a bit expensive OK. You could buy a new chain and cassette and try to get a second hand long reach rear mech.

have the apex version on my boardman cx bike. handy out on the hills. i tried the sally gap with a compact 50/34 and casette 11/25 on a boardman comp 2010 and nearly died from the panic that ensued in my head. made it up but the emotional turmoil and doubt i suffered made it nearly not worth it.

on the flat though love the big ring i have on my raleigh (set some of my fastest times on strava with her) so was wondering if it is possible to combine. 39/32 sounds better than 39/28

very interesting about the canyon smacl and thanks for the advice victorcarrera. as it stands it is just a bit of a dream. I guess a more thorough reading on sheldons for gearing is needed....

I have compact 50/34 and 11/25 cassette for about 2yrs. I've gotten lighter and a bit stronger but im still struggling on some climbs around here where i'm almost jumping on the pedals which is not good for the knees over time.

So im in the middle of changing to a 11/32 now and then keep the 12-25 for whenever i want to change back.

I don't know if this article on Compact cranks and gearing implications would be interesting to you.
