QuinnLite plastering - scud or adhesive?

    Hey all,
We've been talking to plasterers about quoting for our new build. Our engineer has specified Quinnlites above our hollowcore first floor for both load-reduction and inter-room insulation properties.
Both plasterers we've had out to quote have expressed concern over this. They've both rightly pointed out that a special adhesive is usually used with QuinnLites as per their own website
    http://www.quinn-lite.com/buildersguidencenotes.cfm

(Mods, as I'm not trying to promote anything with the link, and it's on topic, hopefully it's not violating the charter. Feel free to remove if needed)

I'm just wondering what peoples experience with QuinnLite plastering is? Did you use the adhesive or scud coat before the scratch coat? How did it work out for you? Any gotchas?

(@Mods, I don't believe this is a structural issue, but if you feel it falls under that area, feel free to remove/close.)

no problem mentioning the product as:

    1. its a valid question pertinent to a lot of self builders
    2. your a frequent contributor here
    3. its a well known product in a large company.

also, the structural query issues we uisually have include posters looking for sizes of structural members etc... no problem with this query.

I have seen both methods used, but personally i would always conform with manufacturers recommendations.

Thanks syd, the manufacturers recommendations are the problem (sort of). They say you can use either scud OR adhesive before scratch. The plasterers I've met seem to have experience only with using the adhesive, so I'm curious to see if anyone here at all has used the scud suggestion.

Hey,if its of anyhelp I build a small extension to my own house about six years ago. We used Quinn lite blocks on both the internal & external leafs.
Externally the walls were given a scud coat and then a scratch coat and dashed.
Have had no problems yet anyway.

Any problems fixing presses etc to the quinnlite inner leaf? They seem to be a nighmare to drill/fix to from what I've seen.

    Well AFCF,
Quinn-Lites own fixings page should be your first stop:
