Why can't you book tickets with IR for the entire NI network?

Is it common among train operators or is it there and am I missing it? I want to travel beyond the Enterprise service but you can't do it through one transaction online. Can it be done at a station ticket office?

NIR don't do reservations (well, possibly for first class), so there is no guarantee that the seat(s) will be available.

You can buy a ticket from anywhere to anywhere. However, some staff may not know how to do it. Buying an on-line fare may be cheaper than from the station, but shop around.

Last time I checked in November Connolly's ticket machines had the full run of all NIR stations on them.

It's cheaper up north in fact it's cheaper to go from newry to Dublin than Dundalk to dublin

Its even worse on Bus Eireann. I have just found out I cannot book a Dublin-Omagh ticket online, even though it is an almost hourly service.

    Bl***y stupid in 2012.

Two different companies with different ticketing systems.

There is no way for Ulsterbus drivers to verify the online tickets.

You can't book tickets with IR for the entire RoI network. It is not available for journeys involving the sections between Limerick and Ballybrophy (via Nenagh) and Limerick Junction and Waterford. Which is an absolute disgrace.

LXFlyer, I did this run before, and it was BE buses there and back.

If there is a problem with UB, then the tickets could be made valid on one line only.

Eurolines have been able to issue international tickets for years, and so of course have airlines. I am fairly sure a cursory check of bus journeys on the continent would show it is regularly done on those as well.

That is why I mentioned that it is 2012 - oh sorry, 2013. Well past time this could be done.
