Pricewise is making his selection for the champion hurdle in tomorrow's RP.

Someone mentioned the iPad version is available at 8.

I see binocular and COTTON MILL is shortening...BUT I bet he goes with countrywide flame or Grumetti

I reckon it will be Grandouet. His price is big at 7's.

He tipped Cotton Mill for the Tote Gold Trophy so might tip him here too

I can see its tipped at 33/1 on front page of racing post tomorrow.
Whatever horse he picked at that price is madness.
The winner will come from the top 5 in the betting.
Top class renewal in prospect and no chance for an outsider, IMO.

    It's Cotton Mill. 33/1 went at 8.04

20/1 now best price and shortening!

I certainly won't be backing it. Madness.

abolutely mental... winner must come from first 5/6 in the betting surely?

Grandouet all day long for me!

Definitely..the selection must have been based on pure scope and reports from the yard..
I purposely took the pi ss on the other thread advertising the price at 50's

33/1 is skinny IMO for a horse rated 145 and who hasn't run this year

Still I'll reserve judgement until I read the article, often when you read it there's an air that Segal either doesn't fancy anything but is under obligation to tip or thinks one of the front 2-3 in the market is bombproof and has to tip something to satisfy an editor

I was predicting he'd tip Rock On Ruby

Was joking about getting on..I wouldn't touch cotton mill with my worst enemies money! He's 20s with some now..incredible for a horse that hasn't been seen trailing a poor 3rd behind lovcen in April last year.

It's amazing to think how open the festival is this year
    Champion hurdle
    World hurdle
    Gold cup
    Ryanair (unbelievably open)
    Jewson
    RSA
    The Neptune
The list is endless..the only straight forward one I see is the champion chase

    Disagree with both of you.

Looks a very open race with every horse having question marks against it and cases can be made for a ton of horses.

Big priced winner wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Dont think it looks that strong a race either.

It should be 20/1 to even make the race.

Thought he'd pick Cinders and Ashes myself on the basis that he may be value as Supreme winner who hasn't got his ground this year when Darlan is close to favourite. The very idea of Pricewise is, supposedly, to tip a horse who will be trading much shorter by race time. Can anyone see that being the case with Cotton Mill on the day? Has it even any entries bar the Champion Hurdle?

Well the 'trading much shorter by race time' is a self-fulfilling prophecy at this stage.

I'd love to see an analysis of the return backing Pricewise at the quoted price versus at the price available half an hour later. I'd say by definition Pricewise picks are bad value once the price has gone.

OTOH I have a lot of time for Segal and his approach to punting.

    Agree with you here tbf

I still wouldn't take 33/1 Cotton Mill (not saying you're suggesting you would either btw)

Cotton Mill now as short as 20/1 with some bookmakers. Ridiculous price, but the mugs will still back it because Pricewise has put him up. Unless you can get on at the price that Tom Segal advises (and there's not that many who do), then it's fairly pointless backing his fancies. Cotton Mill should be at least a 33/1 shot for the CH, if not a fair bit bigger.
