    Hi,

Due to sign on tomorrow the 22nd, this morning I was in a car accident, not knowing what kind of state I will be in tomorrow and if i'll be capable of walking 25 mins to the office. I called in soon after the accident to ask if I could sign on then and there, initially it looked promising, til the girl with what seemed like a major attitude problem rudely said I either sign on tomorrow, or get cut off.

Is there no way of signing on early, or were they just dicking me about? What if there was a serious medical emergency, I cant afford to be cut off at the moment.

The conditions for Jobseekers state you must be available, fit and actively looking for work to qualify. If you are unable to attend on your signing day you could be deemed not to satisfy these conditions.
If you believe you are not fit for work you could apply for Illness Benefit by getting an MC1 form completed by your GP. This will cause your Jobseekers to be closed and then there would be no signing on monthly and you could be paid into the bank.

Sorry I feel you might have missed the point.

My monthly sign on day is tomorrow, and having been in a car accident this morning and not knowing if I will be capable of signing on tomorrow.

Signing is a control measure and the times are given in advance and are not amended to suit personal situations. My point is that if you are not available to sign tomorrow you could be deemed not to satisfy the conditions of your claim and therefore it could be stopped. You can't sign in advance of your signing date/time. There may be an option for late signing but if the reason for being late is that your were not fit to attend they can stop your payment or ask you to provide proof that you are fit for work from your GP.

    Im not permenantly incapacitated.

    I am available for work.

I was in a van that hit a tree head on today, im in pain.

Why should I sign off the live register to pay the doctor 50euro to sign off another form, and wait 2-3 months to see a payment. All I wanted to know could I be accomodated, is signing on one day before really such a dificult thing?, I am not trying to fraudulently claim social welfare.

How are they to know? As explained, that's just not how it works. They can't bend for each and every incident, or many would abuse it.

Could you not arrange for someone to bring you to your signing on appointment? A lift, perhaps?

I am due to sign on tomorrow. I was sent out a letter by the welfare telling me about an open day part of this new momentum retraining thing. I tried to book a place for it but they gave me 2 o'clock. This means I wouldn't make the signing on. Is there a way I am able to put off the signing to attend?
